Female Piercings

Nipples

     Nipple piercing was in vogue among the women of France during the reign of Louis XIV and in England during the reign of Queen Victoria.  The piercing is sensual and attractive and encourages the nipple to become larger and more pronounced.  The piercing is located at the base of the nipple where it joins the plane of the breast.  Piercing should be a minimum of 3/8" apart and should not go into the areolae (the pigmented area around the nipple).

Labia Majora

     Piercing of the outer labia originated as a form of chastity practiced in Ethiopia, Rome, India, and Persia.  Most labia piercings are done now to enhance erotic feelings.  This piercing is conducive to multiple as well as single piercings.  At least two piercings are the norm.  The piercing is placed along the leading edge of the outer labia lips.

Clitoris Hood

     The clitoris hood is the skin that partially or completely covers the clitoris.  Clitoral hood piercing is rapidly becoming the most popular genital piercing for women.  The clit hood can be pierced either horizontally or vertically.  In the horizontal piercing, a ring is chosen and placed so the bead will rest directly upon the clitoris head.  In the vertically piercing, the ring is positioned so to actually rest on the clitoris shaft.  In either case, most women find these piercings very stimulating.

     Jewelry Size: 14 gauge, 3/8" for a vertical piercing, 1/2" or 5/8" for a horizontal piercing.

Clitoris

     The clitoris can be pierced if it is at least 1/4" wide.  If the clitoris is smaller or well-hooded it is best left unpierced.  If the clitoris is large enough and accessible, it can be pierced horizontally or vertically.  Both piercings pass through the exact center of the clitoris.  If not well exposed, a clitoris is best fitted with a stud.  A more exposed clitoris can be fitted with a ring.
